videoshoot for, "Fox". The Christopher Walk-Ins sound is unique blend of garage-band, catchy
vocals, 'an explosion of lollipops and monster riffs', and are heavily influenced by bands such as
Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, The Pixies, Promise Ring, and Sonic Youth.

The Christopher Walk-Ins are simply not getting the recognition they deserve.

Which however, I'm sure will change with an upcoming show at Janestown in LA on the 29th
of this month. As well as, two upcoming SOLD OUT shows they're playing with friends, Built to Spill
at the Troubadour later this Sept.10th & 11th. I'm fortunate for not only being their 'official band
photographer' but to have some of these guys as close friends.

I've been so inconsistent with this shit, and we don't get no mo luv, it's kinda making me sad n shitty that we don't get cute lil shout outs or hollas. Like an expired prostitute. But I'll compensate by trying to post everyday. Key term try. The American Apparel flea market was yesterday, I couldn't have been more disappointed. It wasn't as great and cheap as last year, I felt like an illegal immigrant picking corn through the rows and rows of clothing. And I had to dig too. Actually, I dug alot. My arms are a little muscle-y. Oh well, at least I was one of the first people to get in. Yesterday was a prime example that BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER. Sure there was 10,000 more people then last year, sure Dim Mak and Cobra had a booth with a lot of cute clothing, sure there was a Slip N Slide (that eventually was contaminated with gonorrhea when a certain someone went on it), surely Sebastien Tellier was playing, and sure mango + chile was only 2 bucks, but it was 10,000 degrees outside, and everyone who looked cute didn't after they opened their mouth. Cobrasnake caught the American Apparel flea market the best:

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Collective Souls Yard Sale! Next month I'll be selling a few of my own pieces with Xtal, and as you know her stuff was dirt cheap (urban outfitters scarves for a dollar, american apparel zebra leggings for 3 bucks, dresses and rompers for 4-5 dollars.) Plus Grape Soda had a ridiculous variety of sweaters, boots, hand-made feather earrings, high waisted shorts, shades, shoes and etc, and nothing cost over 20 dollars! Plus the bordering Mexican restaurant had some bomb tacos for only a dollar, and cupcakes, beer, vodka and cran was sold too. If your a penny saver, this was a sale was definitely heaven-sent, and photos below is just a very small taste of Sunday afternoon, with a live DJ, cold-ass lemonade and a chill hang out spot for everyone of all ages and sizes to kick it. This was definitely a kick off from the Sunday Blues.

I've just caught on to the whole hype of daily dose of imagery with outfits and whatnot, and well I want to give it a try. First off my fashion influences are Kate Moss (obviously), Susan Eldridge and Francois Hardy. Pretty much thrown-together Parisian soul with a bit of r'n'r and of course, Casual Lux. My daily accessories has to be something religious, whether it's my crucifix earring, my rosary worn on my neck or wrist, or the picture profile of the holy family on a bracelet.

Why hasn't anyone told me that riding a bike was a new look? Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else find it odd that a random past time such as bicycling will end up on WWWD.com as a fashion trend? I'm not a trend reporter, but seriously, what's next? Reading books considering it's approaching fall aka school time, following, ski poles for the winter. But as long as Agness Deyn does it, it's cool. Maybe it's because of the summer weather that the fashion "idolatries" are coming out on their two wheeled whips, and maybe it's the fact that gas is 5$ a gallon, but bicycles should not be a trend, it should be an unstated necessity. Like socks.

Speaking of underrated orange county talent,
My favorite local photographer is Mr. Taylor Herron himself.
Lemme tell ya somethan, we go waaaay back. (For my young life at least).
Twas' summer of 06, Mickey Avalon @ the Galaxy, he lugged around a big backpack and a camera, and my friends wanted their picture taken. (Note this was before candids and night life photography blew out of proportion.) He didn't take our photograph. Months later,
I see him at yet another Mickey show, and from there we've kept in touch.
(and obviously lost out of touch after mishaps on our last shoot bahahaha)

Bottom line is, Taylor Herron knows his shit, not only is he school-educated
about film and all its magical wonders, but TH isn't doing his thang for the money
or connections. He's doing his thang cos it's his mothafuckin hobby, and no he did
not buy his Nikon 2 months ago and scrutinized every club in town to make some
change because the DJing gig failed him. These days, it's hard to find people
who live for their hobby rather than just trying to live off it. And thus, Taylor Herron deserves shameless promotion. Props to TH.

Although I've only resided in Orange County for almost 3 years and counting, I must say, the music scene over here is underrated. There are a ton of conveniently located and nice venues with a lot of potential, vs. the nitty gritty cramped ones in the plastic capital of the world. Lets get real, we're like, at most 15 minutes away from the beach and 5 minutes from a mall anywhere you are in Orange County, duh.

So here are my top 9 local bands.
From gritty warehouse punk / electronica shows, to
the Tijuana esque hood in Costa Mesa (Hence detroit bar, evocal),
Downtown Fullerton (A nice clash of pubs and venues)
and of course, the infamous backyard parties.

This is back when Health played in my hood and not with
Crystal Castles, and sidenote they did not start this
new sound, it's been incorporated into all the Santa Ana
bands years before crimewave even came out.

The shys is a band you would find on the back of a "Music from the OC" soundtrack if Marisa never died. The sounds is somewhat like Jet but with the laid back beach setting behind the notes. It's "a formula mainly used by British groups of the sixties and seventies (Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Clash) and turn it into something visceral, all their own." Check it.

A post on a Saturday? Absurd!!!
At the current mo I'm being antisocial and sitting
upstairs avoiding catered dinner for my sister's birthday,

Weekend story!!!

Peeps clothing (Peeps.org) is founded by Mia,
a Long Beach Native who has mastered the craft
of turning string and cloth into adorable tops, dresses,
and my favorite: her swimsuits (in specific the zebra
print piece that I shot for her circa spring 07)

One pieces and playsuits are my favorite,
and Mandate of Heaven have the most
adorable designs for lounge wear/party wear.

Alas but not least, Spanish Moss Vintage who is run by Suzanne and her husband, who I recently shot with this previous Saturday in Encinitas for the "Summer of Love" line.
Suzanne is a gypsy living the ideal hippie life, which is truely refreshing of a woman so young and well rounded. Her finds are absolutely eclectic and one of a kind, hence the fact she currently lives "on the road,”and travels on road trips constantly across America for her online vintage business. "In the past year and a half I've lived in several different states, but I am currently spending most of this month in Los Angeles , San Francisco and Texas ."

LOCAL TOURIST is a clothing line that represents artistry freedom and street couture. With a lifestyle brand aimed at today’s urban/retro/indie culture, designer Eric Fobair’s inspiration is the women he surrounds himself with - which are mostly his friends. Each girl is sketched, screen printed and immortalized on fabric. Also included in the line are branded sweaters, t-shirts and scarves. His line represents a chic and liberated style that is an exact replication of today’s youth and it’s acceptance of individuality. True to its name, LOCAL TOURIST, it is for everyone.

LOCAL TOURIST was started by Eric Fobair, a graduate from the University of Oklahoma who recently hit the bricks of LA to make it as a fashion designer. Born in Minnesota, and raised in Texas, Fobair started the business in his last year at the University of Oklahoma. In his first year, he established boutiques in both Oklahoma and Texas and soon extended his brand by coming to California and concentrating on producing fashion throughout the city. "first off, we lovelovelove leggings, and felt that everything out there was too bland. most of the leggings presently on the market are either way over priced or way over produced. our desire is to steer away from both those directions and be an alternative.

our style availability is very limited! we buy out fabric that can never be reprinted so once we sell out of a style, they are gone forever! basically if someone buys a pair, she or he would be one of only 10-15 people in the world with that style, making each piece special and unique!

our inspirations? girls (& boys!) with confidence and attitude who are not afraid to dress outside the box and experiment with fashion. oh and old people who just don't give a fuck!

costume dept was conceived by design duo shaun samson and shawn kaleka. both were born/raised in california and educated & trained in europe. samson is currently in his final year at the prestigious central saint martins college of art and design in london (the alma mater of: alexander mcqueen, john galliano, stella mccartney, M.I.A, to name a few.) kaleka graduated medical school in august then moved to los angeles, deciding not to pursue his family’s medical business, he soon found himself in a love affair with fashion!
